Redefining furniture archetypes through materiality
This table is a reimagined furniture archetype, crafted with the goal of pushing the boundaries of concrete as a material. Unlike conventional concrete furniture, typically seen in monotone slabs, this piece incorporates innovative techniques by adding aggregates and colors. Through hundreds of material experiments, I explored what worked and what didn’t, resulting in a unique and dynamic table that challenges traditional uses of concrete, showcasing its potential for creativity and aesthetic appeal.

How might we redefine furniture archetypes using concrete?
Material Studies
Material Innovation: Exploring concrete's versatility and potential beyond its traditional use in construction, I aimed to discover innovative ways to integrate it into furniture design.
Aesthetic Enhancement: By experimenting with concrete formulations and finishes, I aimed to elevate its aesthetic appeal, moving beyond its raw, utilitarian appearance.
Functionality and Durability: Testing different concrete mixes and reinforcement techniques allowed me to optimize the material's strength and durability.
Environmental Sustainability: I aimed to contribute to more sustainable furniture design practices, reducing reliance on less eco-friendly materials and minimizing environmental impact.
